Is there anything useful I can do with my old Powermac?
I have an old desktop Power Macintosh 6500/300 Apple asking for attention (which is just have been used) but I do not know what to do know … any suggestions?
Hey, there's some life in that old beige yet. It could be used as: a) and computer intro to a young person (who need email, Internet access, word processing), b) donation to a school (check it out with them first) c) Go to http://lowendmac.com some ideas for upgrading to the maximum with the RAM (cheap at this point), bigger hard disk – is an ATA drive that still you can buy, hell, have a PowerMac that is easier to upgrade a server or backup unit for its newer computers. Mac does not usually go by the way of the PC. There is still resilience and how to expand them. To check the statistics: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac/stats/powermac_6500_250.html You may also want to check something on eBay, but you will feel better to give to a novice what you get for it on eBay. You may have to run the OS 9 system, but there are still hold-outs who want a computer running older software. Check your local print shop.
