My portable CD-ROM does not work, what happens???
C600/PIII I have a Dell Latitude 850 with Windows XP Home SP2 and a Dell 24X CD-ROM Module P / N 5044D A02. He worked for a while now and play CDs even though Windows sees it and says the drivers are installed. The Device Manager says its a LG CD-ROM …
Most big brands do not always produce all its parts. Im not saying that is true, but it might be possible that the CD Dell was really made by LG. In any case, I suggest that if your unit is not recognizing any CD, then you should get the clean target. Another problem could be the alignment lens, which is rare, but very possible. If all service charges are too high, I suggest you get a new unit, its sometimes cheaper. This will also given an opportunity to get a DVD combo drive for your laptop.
