Can you put a hard drive used in a new computer?
So I'm under cash, so I'm going to buy a barebones kit of a website. The kit that I have the motherboard, case, CPU and power supply in one package. So I went to buy adequate RAM for the new motherboard and paste everything else thats on my current computer in the new. They all work well. So my hard drive is what I am curious about. He has all my information on him, so I can put it on the new computer without the computer going crazy on me, or you need to reformat and reinstall Windows? Thanks for any input.
Assuming a type compatible IDE, SATA can install it. The old hard drive will not boot on a different computer. You should be able to solve this are installing repair. You will probably have to call Microsoft for validation and upgrade the computer account, as it may think that you have installed copy of XP on two computers different and refuse to validate XP. Repair installation.
