3 monitor support: 1 screen of your laptop (docked), 2 ext. LCD connected to the rear of the docking station?
I just received the 8741 Thinkpad-C2U running XP, and the advanced docking station (which has a DVI and a VGA port). I also have two 20 "LCD displays that support both DVI and VGA. What I want to do is have 3 screens. An LCD using the DVI output of the adv. spring, the LCD using the VGA of the adv. spring, and the 3rd screen is the screen laptop (with the laptop docked, of course). And is this setup now. Problem: The screen of the laptop docked and 1 ext. The screen LCD work simultaneously, leaving blank the last screen LCD, two-or-ext. LCD function, leaving the trailer in the laptop screen blank. I'm running XP, which only supports two monitors … Is there any program (less than $ 100) or any other free program that can allow my setup to work? I've tried the Lenovo ThinkVantage Presentation Director and has an option for 3 or more monitors. Your help is greatly appreciated!
The problem is not XP. I run XP very happy with three monitors. The problem is that the ATI chipset in your T60p FireGL can only run two monitors. So, ThinkPad ThinkPad LCD + LCD + DVI or VGA or DVI + VGA. I think you have the full spring: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=38&Code=250310U¤t-category-id=2EA3D98929BD4B848C9712870E5BFF24 rather than the mini-dock: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=38&Code=250410U¤t-category-id=C115F1DCFEEC4FC98B385898D5DB0658 This is good. The thing to do is get an adapter card X1300: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=38&Code=41U5028¤t-category-id=FD615D93B7F84602A1957783BBEAACF8 adapter card or X700 and http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=38&Code=41U4813¤t-category-id=FD615D93B7F84602A1957783BBEAACF8 put it in the PCI-e slot on the bottom of the pier. Make sure your drivers for the ThinkPad a video adapter card are in the most recent level of Lenovo's website. Then connect two external monitors to the card adapter and you will be able to run the ThinkPad LCD screen as well. Edit: You can try another, but video adapters: The way of feeding the dam is limited to less than 34 watts. The slot is actually only 16x PCIe 1x. Your video card has to deal with this. The video drivers must play well with the ATI drivers on the ThinkPad. Lenovo guarantees that the above combination work.
