I bought a refurbished computer, it says im connected to the Internet, but Internet not working ?!!??!??
I just purchased a gateway 2g RAM, 400g Hard Drive, 2.2 GHz Intel Core Duo with Vista (I asked for XP they did not: S) anyway I have my 03 xp desktop and a laptop VAIO here at home, both connect to the Internet fine and working properly, use a desktop model D-LINK Wireless USB Adapter DWA-130 for wireless connectivity, so here's the problem, my brand newly refurbished computer says it is connected to the Internet, but does not work! I have tried diagnostics, using MS DOS to find the IP and couldnt find that although it says Status: Connected. Do not know what else I've tried everything. Even connected directly the router and said identyfying * * but it wouldnt work, my laptop and desktop works fine though so I know that this is not the Internet, is there some configuration Im missing? maybe because its eyes? please help!
You did not mention how the new computer connects to the Internet through a wireless adapter, as your desktop, or directly to a cable or DSL? One of my computers have to connect cable from radio to work for other teams. Or are you using a wireless network open (ie someone else)? Anyway, my first thought is that often there are two components to connect to the Internet, while one sample that is "in line "you're not really in line until the other is working well, which requires that you have the correct drivers for the device. You could Drivermax.com go and download their free program and tell you that drivers are missing or need updating. It's kind of a pain to try to get a dozen or more of drivers, but one or two does not take long.
